Not to mention it feels really consistent with the story: I love the idea of playing an amnesiac character who is slowly remembering his traumatic past. However, BOTW 2 has multiple possible villains besides Ganon. By the time you get them all and have to find the final spot, you are familiar enough with the geography to go straight there and get delivered that final really emotional scene like a reward for getting to know the game so well. There are 18 in the base game, plus another five 'EX' memories from the Breath of the Wild Expansion Pass DLC, and each contains a scene from 100 years prior to the events of the game. It was like a sudden exciting surprise the game had in store for me during more monotonous exploration phases. Recovered Memories are special events which can be triggered in Breath of the Wild. Apart from that I find the quest awesome, the fact that the reward for finding the spots was often an important cutscene (most of them fleshing out the characters and making their story more impactful) made it extremely rewarding for me to see the circle of light appear. Missed their existence the first time around and looked in a guide to find a couple of the final spots, when the painter gives you all the hints you need and I'd rather have done it this way.
